Last year, before work season hit, when I was blogging actively, I received a nomination for a Liebster Award from blogger Loren Williams of the always entertaining FutureWorld.
This award is given to blogs with less than 200 followers. I had to Google to find this out! It is informal and fun, and has a few rules when one accepts it. Some say that there are 11 questions attached to the award, and that one is supposed to ask 11 questions of the bloggers one nominates, but I don’t think this is the version of Liebster that I got from Loren. I think that all I am supposed to do is nominate five bloggers who have, according to one source, fewer than 3000 followers! That is easier than finding blogs with less than 200.
But wait, here is another source that says one must put 11 random facts about oneself. And that I should nominate 11 blogs.
My, this is confusing.
How about this: If 11 people tell me that I need to post 11 random facts, I will do so!
Meanwhile, much thanks to Loren, and here are my nominations. Oh, but wait; on many of these blogs, I see no way to tell how many followers they have, so I may end up nominating some who have too many followers. Nevertheless, here they are. Some of them have not posted for awhile but have enough posts that they make excellent reading anyway.
11. Plant Hoarder I definitely identify with being a plant hoarder!
10. Julie Tennis, Naturalist, Writer, Public Speaker: a beautifully written nature blog
9. Composer in the Garden “the intersection of music and gardening”
8. Starrhill Farm This blog about a country garden is archived, and well worth reading.
7. Oysterville Daybook Author Sydney Stevens probably has many followers. I am impressed with her daily blogging.
6. The Picture Attic from a favourite local art shop
5. The Potted One This won my heart with a photo of a cat who looks like my Dumbles. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to comment on the Tumblr post to let this person know I have Liebstered their blog.
4. Kestrel Art lovely sketches of birds
3. The Iris and the Lily beautiful garden photos
2. ?I am stumped to find three more blogs that are small enough to qualify. It may even be insulting to suggest that a popular blog with many followers should get a Liebster award.
Meanwhile, my number one favourite blog, which also may have many followers….But I know the writer won’t be offended that I have given her the award:
1. Yummy Montana My good friend’s well photographed, well written and humourous blog about food and Montana.
My all time favourite gardening journal, Moosey’s Country Garden, has way too many followers to qualify for this award!
[…] it! [Done, and I had to figure out how to add images to the sidebar. Thus I was able to add the Liebster Award which was given to me by Future World some time […]
