Hardy Plant Society Study Weekend
Let’s stroll around the last garden on the Hardy Plant Society/Northwest Perennial Alliance Friday tour of Whidbey Island gardens.
approaching the garden from our parking spot
a beautiful home with an old fashioned architectural feeling about it
coming around the side of the house to the water view
Allan’s photo: the owner and a guest stroll the lawn
The gardens fall away from the house to the expanse of lawn.
looking back up at the house
The transparent deer fence, very similar to ours that preserves our view of the Port of Ilwaco.
sprays of roses on the banked garden by the house
Without that deer fence, these rose flowers would be deer snacks.
walking back around the other side of the house
a rhododendron photo for Stephen and John
for the rhodo collector, a possible nursery source
on the landward side of the house
outside the fence, a collection of mature conifers
a gate to the conifer woods
and we come back around the garage to the parking area
To our amazement, we had finished the garden tour in time to go to a couple of Whidbey Island nurseries!
