Hardy Plant Society Study Weekend in Salem, Oregon
a gardening neighbour across the street from the next garden
nicely done, neighbour
garden 12: “a country garden compressed onto a city lot”
It was clear which garden we were going to.
At the sidewalk
mossy and green front garden
They grow birds big in Salem, Oregon.
to the side of the house
shady side yard
variegated gingko. (I wonder if mine would have been happier in a pot.)
expanded steel on a trellis (Allan’s photo)
an interesting bench
in the back garden.
a country estate on a small city lot
a handsome division between garden and path
The tag reads Crypto. J. ‘Rasen’
gets to 20 feet; I like it.
a guest dog who did not get to come out for the day (Allan’s photo)
the sound of water
the koi pond
Again, I wonder about raccoons and herons. Salem garden have huge koi with no apparent protection, although one gardener pointed out the sides of the pond are deep and sheer.
an impressive waterfall; wish I knew how to do this stuff.
I saw this crow fountain at 7 Dees Seaside last year…It makes a clacking noise.
decorating with napkin rings (Allan’s photo)
books of reference and information (Allan’s photo)
for future plants
Of course, I love the green and purple house colours.
napkin rings on a stick, very clever
The gardeners did a great job of fitting an expansive garden into a small lot with all sorts of pleasing and artistic touches (and purpleness!).
