Ann from Portland and Our Kathleen from Olympia converged upon our garden at noon for a day of garden touring, just the four of us.

me, Ann, Kathleen

We repaired to the Salt Pub for lunch…

…where we enjoyed the view…

…and tuna medallions fresh off the day boats.

Some money glued to the curb of our garden caused a moment of confusion.
Oysterville
We then zoomed, all in our van, straight up Sandridge Road to Oysterville and started our touring by stopping by a garden where Dave and Melissa were hard at work.

nothing like distracting friends from a productive work day

Just across a grassy meadow from the garden is the Oysterville Sea Farms, our next destination. Ann desired a good touristy hoodie.

Ann picked the historic design rather than the mermaid one.

I feel deeply privileged to have permission to enter this garden.

Ann, a plantswoman to the core, paid heed to every plant. (Allan’s photo)

I always start to feel a little weepy right about here.

The south side terrace always gets me all choked up with its perfection.

Chair backs echo shape of windows. Ann said “Of course they do, a true designer.”

love that little window up top

love the little fringe of begonias

This reminds me I need to refresh my own display of Allium sphaerocephalon (drumsticks!)

The exact moment when I realized I no longer have enough of those and had already placed my bulb orders.

We depart both reluctantly and with eagerness to see the next garden, halfway down the bay. On the way south, we stop to pester Todd at his job (formerly mine till he moved back), at his brother’s art studio…
The Wiegardt Gallery

sneaking up on Todd

Todd was so hard at work we almost snuck up on him.

The garden is looking wonderful under his care.

Ann went in to look at Eric Wiegardt’s art.

I petted my favourite plant, a slow growing, mounding dianthus.
And then on we went to another great garden.

I LOVED the Hydrangea allee! H. arborescens grows well here and is in full tilt now. Thank you for showing such beautiful gardens in detail.
