Tuesday, 22 Sept 2016The lovely rain meant that we could wait till tomorrow to do the Long Beach planters, so we did our “north end” day.
The Anchorage Cottages
At Marilyn’s, we are just keeping it under control till the new owners take possession at the end of October. I decided some of the floppy miscanthus needed to be cut for the health of the plants around them.
On the way out, I found a plush red heart on the driveway, and put it on the porch for Marilyn’s daughter Nancy to find. It must have dropped when moving boxes out. I was suddenly all verklempt about the loss of Marilyn and (for us) this garden.
Klipsan Beach Cottages
A family wedding party will be staying at KBC this weekend…not the wedding or the reception, but we still wanted to make it especially nice looking because one of the brides is a KBC niece.
Allan clipped one of the tatty ferns by the pond…
We had time left in the day to get a head start by weeding Veterans Field gardens…
….and pulling some Crocosmia ‘Lucifer’ in one of the “little pop outs” on Ocean Beach Boulevard.
Someone plants annuals in this little garden bed; I wish I knew who. I don’t think it is the house to the north, or they would be doing the pop out in front of their house. I don’t think it is the Boardwalk Cottages because they are a block away. Allan made a scrumptious dinner with eggs inside of red pepper slices.

Sept 20: 1:00-5:00 Started potting the perennials from Owen. Did some watering. Also moved several wheelbarrow loads mushroom compost to cover the new and old compost boxes. Also sieved some MC [mushroom compost] which makes wonderful soil.
