Blogged from my phone because too lazy to boot up

We made our trip to the big box store across the river to look at tiles. The question is, in a bathtub enclosure with a glass block wall at one end, will I choose the river rock look:
I marveled at the cacti for sale. The flowers did not look real. They looked like they were paper flowers. Maybe they were!

All but one photo from here on is by Allan.
My knee brace arrived, brought from Portland by the woman who showed me how to use it!
Skooter and Allan worked on accounting.
After a reading day (Forked, about ethical practices in the restaurant industry), we had our weekly dinner with Dave and Melissa at Salt Hotel.
Melissa and I are particular devastated by Carrie Fisher’s death and by its impact on the ninth Star Wars movie. I think Carrie would have wanted even more than we do to know how Leia’s story arc would have played out. Her mom’s death the next day has been especially poignant.
The other 2016 death that hit me so hard was gardener Ryan Gainey.
It was comforting to have dinner with friends.

A brief walk in the garden:
Allan has been taking daily walks to the library. He photographed this old house uphill from us:

I finished reading Hillbilly Elegy.
I pretty much feel like this about 2016.
Or at least the last two months.
2017 will be a challenge. I hope we are ready. It should start well. The first day will feature a “do” at one of our favourite gardens.
Wishing you the best possible new year.
