We’d had some overnight rain.
Allan had an occasional audience while working on the behind garage kitchen garden project.
He witnessed the usual showdown between Skooter and Onyx from next door.
I embarked upon weeding the south end of the big east bed in the back garden. Unlike the north end, it was an interesting weeding job with no running grass.
I was determined to finish that bed, even though I should have found a less saturated soil area to work in. It’s not good for wet soil to be walked on, so my example today was a bad one. I will have to add a lot of mulch (which I am short on) for my sins.
Skooter helped, especially when I was using the sharp, serrated root slayer shovel on some swamp sedge.
I remembered a scary moment at the old Klipsan Beach Cottages job when Denny was swinging a pickaxe and little nosy Siamese Tommy almost ran underneath its downswing. Our hearts were all a flutter afterwards.
I was pleased to get the first weeding of the east bed done.

In the evening, I was thrilled to find a new video, with a promise of more to come, from John Lord’s Secret Garden.

pandemic news
Worries for American farmers: “They’re on a strict planting and harvesting schedule and cannot ramp up or decrease production at will.”
It shouldn’t take a pandemic to make people care about the working and poor

So true that it shouldn’t take a pandemic to make people care about the poor.

John Lord is a great watch on You Tube, sadly though I think I have now caught up on all his past videos…

Mechanized farming may be productive but it has serious drawbacks.

Hi Skyler! You have accomplished some serious weeding. It looks nice! Love the pictures of the kitties. The one of Skooter looking at Onyx on the fence is funny. I love John Lord’s Secret Garden on Youtube, too. You can tell he really loves plants and gardening.
