At home
I had not expected to wake up to good weather. I set my book reading plans aside, even though, because of news reading, I didn’t get out the door till one.
The first plan I came up with was to cut back the four big clumps of Sedum ‘Autumn Joy’ because I was tired of it. And yet it had such a rich warm brown tone in the sunshine that I changed my mind.
So instead, I moved the last of the pile of gravel, adding a bit more to assorted paths and to the back patio.
I refined the outer edge of the patio…
The gravel being off of the driveway means that I can think about ordering a pile of mulch.
Allan was working on his kindle book, having run into a major glitch: Once it is uploaded, you can’t edit it for typos. Not only that, but he adds to his book when he finds more about a launch site, so that is quite a problem, in my view.
How’s that for a short post? I feel it must be a relief. The only other personal news of note is that we watched Ready Player One, which we had somehow missed, and found it a satisfactory treat. To quote a realtor we used to know, “That was right up you guyses’ alley.”
Oh, those cattails! They are marvelous. We enjoyed “Ready Player One,” as well. Bought the book sequel for eldest daughter this Christmas.

There is another movie you might like. I learned about it from Mr T because his daughter’s partner is one of the creators of it: Attack the Block.

I have indeed seen it and liked it very much!

Why are the cattails so short and stubby?

They are a dwarf kind, I think, that I somehow acquired in the past.

So they were actually planted intentionally. That is amusing. I did not think that anyone did that. When Los Gatos gets around to getting an official Town Flower, I want it to be the cattail. (It was my idea, but some politician will come up with it as his idea when he runs for town council.)

I like your idea. Mine are in containers. I planted some in the real pond in my old garden as they tried to take over. There is a dwarf kind here that I think is on the noxious weed list. :-(. La la la la la.

That is the impression that I get with them. They just move in whether or not they are wanted. They took over a pond at work. We do not want to bother trying to get rid of them until we have time to do it thoroughly. I would not mind some staying along the stream, if we could contain them. If planted on a steep bank, they do not migrate up the bank, or into the flowing water. They migrate only where the water slows. Of course, they have a way of slowing the water if they want to. We refer to the thicket that is in the pond as the corn dog orchard.

Cute, took me a minute to figure out why you call it that. 😀

They don’t taste very good though, even with mustard.

I, too, think the Sedum ‘Autumn Joy’ is a lovely rich color. Mine don’t look nearly as nice.

Our winter has been very mild so they aren’t beat up by weather. They are low enough so the wind doesn’t batter them.
