Peninsula Quilt Guild annual show, Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum, Ilwaco
15-17 March 2024
This photo shows quilts hung on the walls of the museum. They are also displayed on racks in three rooms, two large and one smaller.
This post has quilts that I would call abstract, geometrical or patterned. I have pretty strong reaction to color and go for jewel tones or soft colours. This makes for an unfair choice of which quilts to show, as I am sure I didn’t photograph some that just were not the right colours for me to enjoy! However, you can see more quilts on Facebook on the Peninsula Quilt Guild page.
This post also includes some memorials and some basic quilt information.

Quilt Name: Chemo Therapy; Quilt Exhibitor: Lynda Newell; Quilt Maker: Lynda Newell; Quilter: Lynda Newell; Pieced by: Hand, Quilted by: Machine; Size: 70″ × 82″; Pattern: Inner Cube by It’s Sew Jodi
Description: This is Inner Cube by It’s Sew Jodi. While in treatment for cancer I was unable to make the stairs up to my studio and really needed a project. I saw this pattern and decided it was a good time to learn English Paper Piecing. Most of the pieces are fussy cut and it is all hand stitched. I took pieces with me during Chemo to work on over the several hours of each treatment. Thankfuly I recovered enough to be able to quilt it on my longarm.
Sometimes I couldn’t back up enough to get the whole border.

What beautiful designs! They are works of art. My grandmother used to make quilts with that small doll-like figure with the big hats. I like the inclusion of “anatomy of a quilt” too.

The anatomy lesson is interesting! I love all the geometrics, but my favorites here are Sunbonnet Sue enjoying the World’s Longest Beach and the first one at the top of this post. Nicely done, quilters!
