Before work, I made a video walk through of the garden. The one I tried to make yesterday had a spot on a lens, and I sounded terribly bored. I still don’t sound very perky…but this is my best effort to capture Lily Time.
We then went on to a pleasantly all Ilwaco work day.
Mike’s garden
We mostly watered at Mike’s, along with a bit of escallonia pruning.
Between jobs, we photographed a garden that I had noticed the other day.
Spruce Street garden
It is wonderful.
Port of Ilwaco
Rain is forecast for tomorrow night so we watered just about half of the Howerton Avenue gardens. We could not count on the rain for all the beds because Friday night is Art Walk and the gardens need to be tidied and refreshed.
I started trimming up the dead flowers of the santolinas and some of the lavenders.
Euphorbia ‘Fen’s Ruby’, which hitched a ride in on some other plant, has run rampant in this garden.
It is feathery and cute, and nurseries still sell it; I find it to be a little horror and hope to get it mostly dug out…someday.
We had a coffee and treat break at the Ilwaco Bakery. That is turning into a pleasant weekly tradition.
I was thrilled to see that the “Fish Finder” finally has the names of the newer port businesses!
For years, it has had several businesses that were closed, and I felt that made the port look less than successful. Another pole further down the port surely must have the names of other businesses such as the Don Nisbett Gallery.
Onward! We worked our way west.
I was inspired to do some pruning for traffic sight lines in one of the gardens.
We spent the last couple of hours weeding the boatyard garden.
It was a pleasure to have an easy day.
This post was fun! LOVE the video. It added an entirely different dimension to your garden. I heard the birds in the background, and the cat talking, and your voice/accent was entirely different than I imagined in my head. I could see the garden as a whole and the way in which it connects and flows, not just bits and pieces. Your window boxes and the gate with the spades are pretty cool. Your garden is charming. I wish I could walk it in person, but this video is the next best thing. Thank you!

Love your video, Skyler! You did great. It was fun to see Skooter and Frosty, and the neighbor dogs. Your flower gardens are beautiful, but I also love the Bogsy Wood.

Thanks! I’ve been working on the bogsy wood this last weekend.

You really do have a pretty speaking voice. I would love to see more videos clips included–maybe seasonal garden tours. It is fun to hear the birds singing. It brings your garden story to life.

Holy cats, I had no idea what a Veronica Lake sultry voice you had until I watched this fabulous video tour of your garden. Wonderful! I’ve followed your blog for a few years but don’t remember ever seeing a video tour or hearing your voice. Delightful! I hope to see and hear more garden tour videos of your beautiful garden in the future. The only thing that upstaged you were your two delightfully talkative kitty cats.

Ha!! I was putting on a movie voice, I think. Like Werner Herzog. I don’t really sound like that.

Loved your video , and it would be great if you posted more -perhaps the Howerton Av gardens, the boatyard garden, Long Beach etc.

That is a great idea, Howerton and Long Beach might be hard because of traffic, but we could do the boatyard…And we could do a driving (ie me as a passenger) of Howerton. Maybe next year, it is getting tired now.

Ah yes! That video was wonderful. I thought I knew the layout of your garden, but I see now I was mistaken on quite a few things. What a wonderful treat, and you’ve helped me understand why people seem to appreciate when I do videos, and now I vow to do more. Also, your voice is just fantastic for video, bravo!

Thank you! I still think that wasn’t my real voice but it was better than the first video I made, in which I sounded so languid as to be almost asleep!
